A Dirty Internet: How Data Centers Waste Energy
" Power, Pollution and the Internet " ("The Cloud Factories" series, front page, Sept. 23) exposes the problem with data centers and unnecessary energy waste. While "cloud" data centers are in the spotlight because of their huge energy appetites, they should not obscure the millions of smaller server rooms in American businesses wasting about $2 billion in electricity a year.
